I know for some of you, it may already feel like spring. But here in the west (Utah), it is far from feeling that way. With the snow and cold winds one day and the sun shining the next... spring is teasing us as we long for that warmth to get outside. When you do finally go outside, BAM! a blast of bitter cold air takes your breath away.
Living in one of the best skiing areas of the entire world, you would think that I am an avid skier or snowboarder. I have yet to pick up a pair of skis and try my hand (or feet) at it since I was a teenager. I'm sure it's overdue, but my attention rests on the mountains, preferably the snow-less mountains, in search of that clean air and solemn quiet (you know the kind that makes you listen to the ringing in your own ears??). Unfortunately, they remain snow covered for a few more months, so I must either seek the enjoyment of the snow.. EMBRACE the snow... or hibernate a bit longer.
Though I should really embrace the snow in hopes of finding that new hobby (expensive as it may be), and go skiing.. I choose (for now anyway), to keep warm and dry in my home while kicking my own butt in my unfinished basement. Odd as it may sound, I have, overtime, acquired a lot of equipment and have made myself a make-shift gym-ish type of place. It serves it's purpose. I've dropped many, many pounds and beads of sweat in that basement... BASEMENT!! I LOATHE YOU!!! hehe.
When spring finally does poke it's little head out from behind the massive snow covered mountains, I plan on being outdoors MUCH more. Spring time = garden planting... and who doesn't just love to eat fresh, home grown tomatoes, bell peppers and squash... yummmm my mouth is watering just thinking about it. It is part of eating clean ya know. With the garden of course comes barbecues and social gatherings. Outside fire pits and relaxing at the lake while fishing. Longer days offer more Vitamin D to the skin (lather that sunblock on!!) and many more smiles...
So come on already... Is it SPRING yet!?
